I CAN’T STOP HAVING FUN
Q: Dear @life.coach.lawyer, I work hard, but I play hard. I am constantly exhausted and playing catch-up, but I have major FOMO and never say no to plans. How can I find balance but keep having fun?
A: Hi friend. I can totally relate. Here is the short answer: schedule rest—but get creative and make it fun. Now let me explain.
I’m a busy girl, and my days are very full. First, I try to remember that I am doing all of this because I want to, not because I have to. Start incorporating that mindset more. If you think you have to be doing something, you don’t. Everything you put your energy toward is a choice. If you need to set a boundary, set it. (Refer to my other post on how to set boundaries.)
I love having fun. I want all of my time to be a good time, but I still have to rest and recover—otherwise, I get burned out. You know the feeling. So, I schedule rest days.
Here’s an idea: plan a full day of staying in bed, but with a twist. Make it a competition—who can take the fewest steps possible? Play Heads Up or cards. Set up snacks, water, and movies, and find your groove. You can meditate, stretch, do a mini ab workout, or do absolutely nothing all day long.
Guaranteed: you’ll want to get up and get moving the next day, full of energy.
